Ilona-Anne Wiss, Esq.

As a member of The Florida Bar and the American Bar Association, and with her law practice focusing on real estate, Ilona-Anne Wiss handles all aspects of real property transactions, including residential and commercial closings, international business transactions, condominium conversions, zoning, and land use matters.  She also provides services in probate matters, wills, and trusts.

In addition, Ilona-Anne Wiss has a real estate broker license, and is a veteran Realtor in the Miami area.  She has worked on Miami Beach for more than 20 years.  She has broad experience with Miami Beach’s unique and diverse market, and understands the necessity for precision and thoroughness, from the drafting of an initial Purchase and Sale Contract all the way to the final walk-through.

Professional History
After working as a Realtor in Miami Beach for 10 years, Ms. Wiss decided to pursue a career as an attorney for a very specific purpose: to better serve The South Pointe Citizens Coalition (SPCC), an organization she co-founded and supported in her role as president.   It was through the work of the SPCC during the 1990's that the “Save Miami Beach” movement was born.

“I watched as Miami Beach began its transformation,” recalls Ilona, “and was very excited by the progress being made to improve dilapidated areas of the city. But it quickly became clear to me that without controls in place, the charm that epitomizes South Beach was at risk of being overrun.”

With her help, the SPCC worked to educate residents about the risks of uncontrolled growth. As a result, they gathered the support needed to successfully establish what is now the City’s legislative mandate to protect all of Miami Beach, including its renowned Historic District from over-development.

“As a Realtor,” Ilona reflects, “I could always make money as property exchanged hands and values increased, but I didn’t want to stand by while the underlying community and quality of life degraded. I realized that as an attorney, Miami Beach could benefit if I applied my background and experience.” That’s when she devoted herself to obtaining a law degree.

Ms. Wiss began her legal career with Milledge & Iden, a Coral Gables law firm specializing in commercial and residential real estate law, estate planning and land use. Soon after, in 2001 she became a principal in Gibbs & Wiss P.A., based in Coconut Grove and focused on her skills as a real estate closing attorney. Seeking to relocate closer to home, Ms. Wiss opened her own office in South Beach on Lincoln Road in October of 2003. Today the Law Office of Ilona-Anne Wiss, P.A. stands in the same location.
